Resources for Recovery
A Gentle Hope Filled Introduction to Trauma Healing

Resources for Recovery is a one-day trauma-informed workshop designed to support anyone who has experienced trauma.
Whether you’re just beginning to understand the impact of past experiences or are already on a healing journey, this workshop offers practical tools, compassionate insight, and a safe space to learn and reflect.
We know that every response to trauma is human—and often, an ingenious survival strategy. Our aim is to help you understand how trauma affects the nervous system and offer resources to help you care for yourself moving forward.
Why is it important to learn about Trauma?
Our aim is to help build your trauma lens.
The more we can hold a trauma lens when trying to make sense of thoughts, feelings, behaviour following trauma – the easier it is to shift from a position of “what’s wrong with me?” to “what happened to me?” or “why the pain?”
So why is it important to learn about trauma?
Unfortunately, this topic is not taught at schools – we wish it was.
As such, most people have little awareness of how we react to trauma as humans.
Or even what we mean by the word trauma.
One result of this is that when you experience trauma, the thoughts, feelings and behaviour can be very confusing and make little sense.
The more sense that you can make of your reactions, and of yourself, the more empathic you can be as you realise “these are normal reactions to trauma”.
Learning about trauma also gradually helps you see the potholes in the road ahead – these are red flags, “I’ve been here before”, “I know that if I do…that helps”. Especially helpful at stressful occasions like family Christmases!!
Early in your recovery journey it can feel that you’re in the backseat of a car that is careening down the highway full speed. You may feel incredibly unsafe with no protection or seatbelt.
You may even be unsure of who is actually driving the car, where it is going and how you can cope. Some of you might be desperately wishing you could escape this wild ride.
We want this workshop to function as a step towards putting in the driver’s seat for your trauma recovery and to equip you with the controls to reach your goal safely whether you have just begun healing or have been working at it for a while.
